Greg L. Berenstein joined the Firm as a partner in 2010.  Greg’s general practice includes, but is not limited to, Business Law, Commercial Law, Contracts, Information Technology Law, and Intellectual Property. 

Greg was born in Iowa City, Iowa, and raised in Sioux City, Iowa. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1982 with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in English. Greg attended the University of Iowa College of Law and was awarded his Juris Doctor, with distinction, in 1985.

Greg is admitted to practice law in the states of Iowa and Illinois. After beginning his practice in 1985 with a large Des Moines firm, he moved to Chicago where he practiced both in-house with large multi-national companies, and in private practice. He returned to Sioux City in 2010 to join the Firm.

Greg’s practice is generally concentrated on counseling, negotiation, and drafting of sophisticated commercial and intellectual property law transactions and other legal affairs for companies in the information technology, life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device sectors; the manufacturing, retail, and consumer product sectors; and other technology/intellectual property-intensive businesses. He works directly with senior management and in-house law department personnel, often serving as outside general counsel to such clients.

Work includes drafting, counseling, and negotiation of sophisticated commercial and technology-related transactions, such as joint ventures, license relationships, global alliances, and development agreements; sophisticated marketing and promotion agreements; sales and distribution agreements; acquisitions and divestitures, including those involving intellectual property assets; and structuring of other commercial agreements with regard to complex intellectual property and commercial matters.

Greg is active within the Siouxland community, serving on the Sioux City Art's Center Association Board, the Western Iowa Tech Community College Foundation Board, and active involvement with the Welcome Home Program, through the Community Action Agency, providing housing and other services to homeless families in the Siouxland region. In his free time, he is a runner and has trained for triathlons and other fitness events.
